Organic and Extra Virgin - the good oil!
Some olive oils, known as "cosmetic grade", "pure" or "light" are manufactured from a second pressing of the waste from an olive press. This oil (called"pomace oil" or "lampante" - suitable for burning in your lamps) is then chemically scrubbed. This processes strips the oil of all its polyphenols, anti-oxidants and vitamins. In then end, you have a clear liquid which is colourless, and chemically inert.
Extra virgin olive oil, on the other hand, is pressed from freshly harvested and crushed fruit. This extracts the fruit juice that is called extra virgin olive oil - rich in anti oxidants, vitamins, and skin-loving sebum and squaline.
Extra virgin olive oil is the principal active ingredient of all OLIVE by LANGLOIS products. It is cold pressed on our organically certified olive press new Wagga Wagga in the Riverina area of NSW.
